Changpa Nomads

The Changpa nomads as the name suggests are nomadic goat herding tribes that migrate across the mountainous high desert of the Ladakh region in India. Living in the thin air between 4000-5000m, these ‘part gypsy, part nomadic farmers’ move their flocks as the seasons, snow melt & grasses change year round. In the remote parts of southern Ladakh at an altitude where most people require altitude pills and oxygen tanks the Changpa Nomads live in relative peace compared to the crowded cities of India.
